Have you ever wanted to just go out in the middle of nowhere and live your life secluded, away from society because of how negative it is?

I sure have, and sometimes I think that’s not a bad idea at all.

There are way too many negative people in this world, and the news is filled with it, the workplace is filled with it. So, how do you avoid such negativity?

It can be hard to avoid sometimes, especially when it’s the people you work with everyday, or it’s one of your family members. Whenever you try to stay positive around them, it seems like they just drain your positivity out of you and the more you wonder what has made this person so negative and why are they are complaining about everything.

There are times when I try to bring those who are down all the time and whining all the time up from whatever it is they are complaining about, but it’s not easy. They are just conditioned to be negative. I think the best thing a person can do around a “Debbie downer” or “Negative Ned” is to just be as positive as they can around them and try not to be dragged down with them. Also, limit your time around them as much as you can. Leave the room whenever they are around.

However, you should try to see the positive in people, even if they are so negative. Try to focus on that and maybe compliment them a lot. If that doesn’t work, then try to avoid them all together. If your job is impossible to get away from people like that, then it’s time to start looking for a new job altogether if it’s affecting you to the point where it’s making you negative and bringing you down all the time. It’s better to be around people that you want to be inspired by and motivate you to do your best than around people that are trying to drag you down with them all the time.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”-Jim Rohn

I have become more positive, I notice, when I turn off the TV. Television is full of negativity, especially the news. I stop reading the newspapers. I start listening to positive music or uplifting motivational audio. If I surround myself with positive influence everywhere, I will become positive.

Overall, I think the best thing you can do is just try to get rid of and avoid negativity in your life all together and to be around things and people who are positive. Don’t forget to smile and laugh all the time for no reason, too. :-) It seems to help.
